Foundation in Music at UCSI University is a one-year preparatory programme that builds the musical knowledge and thinking skills needed for progression to a bachelor’s degree in music. It introduces students to music in depth through listening, appreciation and Malaysian music studies, while encouraging them to question ideas and connect musical concepts to real-world contexts.
The learning experience is practical as well as academic, with performance and ensemble work in choir or orchestra, musicianship training and instrument study. It also develops teamwork, responsibility, communication and digital awareness, creating a broad foundation for further study in music and the wider music industry.
