Due to this, it is now crucial for all kinds of professionals to comprehend how this technology might be used in their particular professions. A career in mobile computing is gratifying. Fortunately, many employment vacancies and prospects in mobile computing could be ideal for you.
Although the credentials and job path for mobile computing may appear challenging, it is one of the most well-paid and quickly expanding careers in the IT sector. This guide will explain why you should study mobile computing and the different career options you can explore.
Why Study This Program
High Demand
Although earlier businesses relied on physical technology, there has been a slow transition to mobile servers. The recent epidemic was the first to drive up demand for mobile computing. If not, it would have been difficult for businesses to meet client needs. Mobile services have also assisted sectors in making up for the enormous losses brought on by the epidemic. The future potential of mobile computing is approaching the limits of contemporary reality. Following the epidemic, this industry is growing at an unforeseen rate, creating additional work possibilities globally.
Networking, storage, servers, databases, analytics, software, and intelligence are all included in computing services. These services offer financial restraint, rapid innovation, and flexible resources. The interest in mobile computing has dramatically increased. This is because computing services improve adequate infrastructure, lower operational costs, and optimise the industry in response to essential changes. Mobile computing in Malaysia is regarded as the newest and most innovative field in IT.
Increased Insight in the Field
As the digital era progresses, it is more evident that the saying “knowledge is power” has evolved into the more appropriate and contemporary phrase “data is money.” There are troves of priceless, usable information concealed within the millions of bits of data surrounding customer interactions and company processes just waiting to be found and used. However, sorting through that data to discover these kernels may be challenging unless companies can access the appropriate mobile-computing solution. This is where mobile computing comes in handy.
Several mobile-based storage options provide integrated analytics for a birds-eye perspective of a company’s data. As a mobile computing specialist, you will be able to deploy monitoring systems and create tailored reports to assess information across businesses when their data is hosted in the cloud. You will have enough insight to develop action plans and help companies achieve their corporate goals to boost efficiency.
Disaster Recovery
Control is one of the basics that go into a business’s accomplishment. Unfortunately, there will always be factors outside an organisation’s authority regarding its operations. In today’s market, even a tiny bit of unusable downtime may have a noticeably adverse effect. A company’s services’ downtime results in lost output, money, and brand reputation.
Mobile computing is a way that speeds up a company’s recovery, even if there may be no way for them to stop or even foresee the calamities that might impact their company. Mobile-based services offer rapid data recovery in emergencies, including power outages and natural catastrophes. The facts should be considered, and in this case, 43% of IT leaders who recently responded to a study stated they intended to invest in or upgrade mobile-based disaster recovery solutions.
Flexibility for Businesses
A limited amount of attention is available for a company to allocate across all its duties. Suppose their current IT solutions require them to focus too much on computer and data storage issues. In that case, they won’t be able to concentrate on attaining company goals and satisfying customers. However, they will have more time to focus on the parts of their organisation that immediately affect their income if they depend on an outside firm for handling their IT hosting and infrastructure.
Mobile computing gives enterprises more flexibility compared to hosting on a local server. Additionally, if they want more bandwidth, a cloud or mobile-based solution may rapidly satisfy their needs rather than requiring an involved (and costly) update to the IT infrastructure. This increased freedom and flexibility may significantly affect an organisation’s total efficiency. According to a poll by InformationWeek, “the ability to quickly meet business demands” was cited by 65% of respondents as one of the most crucial causes for a company to switch to a mobile computing environment.
Needed For the Future
Demand for mobile computing graduates will last a very long time. There is a considerable need for mobile computing experts as more people go mobile and the market for new apps grows. You may learn more about Azure, AWS, and GCP by taking a course in mobile computing in Malaysia. With the help of a comprehensive mobile computing certification course, you can learn architecture fundamentals and hone your cloud and mobile expertise.
If you wish to work as a mobile engineer or an app developer, you will become an expert in developing, planning, and growing mobile computing or cloud systems. If you’re more interested in upskilling than pursuing a job in mobile computing, this program is still ideal for you. Mobile computing is the way of the future, and firms thinking ahead will be more interested in hiring people who can navigate its complexities.

Students can sometimes switch from one specialisation to another, but it will require approval from the University faculty and the relevant authorities in Malaysia.
Students who want to opt for program transfers to another University will usually need to prepare the transfer paperwork and start processing from their second year onwards to ensure all the paperwork and approvals are in place so the program transfer can be done.
Entry Requirements
The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) sets the entry requirements and guidelines for university admissions in Malaysia, which all universities must adhere to. All prospective international students must meet the minimum entry requirements, as the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) takes these standards into account during the application acceptance and processing phases.
The admission requirements to study mobile computing in Malaysia for international students may vary from one university to another. However, the basic entry requirements are the same for most universities.
Usually, there are two pathways to entering a degree program in Malaysia:
- First, students can join a foundation program after completing their secondary schooling, O levels, or equivalent qualifications. After completing the foundation in the information technology/computing program, they can continue to the bachelor’s degree as per their choice.
- Second, students who have completed their higher secondary school or A levels or equivalent will be able to join the bachelor’s degree programme directly into year one.
If a student fails to meet the entry requirements for a bachelor’s degree programme, the faculty may offer different pathways into the degree programme, for example, through a foundation or a diploma programme.
Universities may raise the entry requirements to ensure incoming students are academically prepared for the rigours of their programmes. So, prospective international students should consult with an admission advisor to determine the precise entry criteria for their chosen programme and their preferred university.
General Entry Requirements For Bachelor’s Degree
A Levels or Equivalent:

Students who have studied the British or American curriculum are generally exempted from the English proficiency requirements since the medium of instruction for that curriculum is in English by default.
Students who have studied other curriculums where the medium of instruction is also English will usually need to provide a supporting letter from the school stating that the instruction language for their schooling has been English. With that letter, English language requirements are proven to have been completed.
Fees & Cost
Students sometimes only look at the tuition fee during the comparison. However, depending on how forthright and clear the fee guidelines from the university are, the extra fees can be a hefty amount that could be a surprise. So students are advised to correctly add all the fees and decide which university fits their budget requirements to study mobile computing in Malaysia.
Various factors will contribute to the overall cost structure, such as:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation fees
- Admission fee
- Registration and Visa fees and
- Other one-time fees.
These fees vary from university to university and can depend on varying factors. The quality, infrastructure, facilities and teacher-to-student ratio will also determine how much a university charges.
You must find the right balance between quality and cost to get the best education possible. The average cost to study mobile computing in Malaysia is between RM30,000 to RM40,000 per year, depending on the University.
For reference, that’s around USD $7,500 to $10,000 per year for a 3-year mobile computing degree program at the current exchange rate.
Accommodation
Accommodation cost is going to be another recurring fee for international students. Generally, students have two options: they can either stay at the on-campus accommodation provided by the university or at private accommodation. The prices will differ according to which university and area you choose.
Generally, campus accommodations at major universities start at around US$150 per month and can go up to $400 per month. The pricing for on-campus accommodation is determined by the size of the room, whether a student will be sharing the room or will be staying alone, or if the student is taking a master room which generally comes with an attached bathroom or decides to stay at a sharing room with shared bathroom.
Some universities also offer cooking facilities and on-campus accommodation, which are shared facilities which will also be factored into the accommodation costs. Utility costs are generally an add-on fee.
While choosing the university, you can check with your admissions advisor on the options available for accommodation and how much they will cost so that you have an idea of how much of a monthly budget you will require as a student.
