Overview

The Master of Counselling at IMU is a two-year postgraduate programme designed to prepare graduates for professional counselling roles in educational, healthcare, community, and organisational settings. The programme integrates counselling theory, skills development, supervised practicum, and research. Students will explore specialised areas such as career counselling, multicultural counselling, trauma, and expressive art therapy. A personal statement is encouraged as part of the application. Graduates of this programme are eligible to register with the Board of Counsellors Malaysia and are well-positioned for roles in clinical practice, education, NGOs, or further doctoral study.

Bachelor’s DegreeA Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent, as accepted by the University’s Senate.
A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 to 2.74, with or without prior industry experience, may be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment.
A personal statement is advantageous to the application.
English Language– IELTS: Band score 5.0.
– TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 42.
– Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): Overall score of 154.
– Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 154.
– Cambridge Linguaskill: Overall score of 160.
– Pearson Test of English (PTE): Overall score of 47.
